Editorial Policy and Corrections
Our goal is to explain Utah employee paychecks in a way that a reader can verify. The Utah Paycheck Calculator Team maintains the content and calculation code. We do not claim independent professional tax review or government endorsement.
What we publish
We focus on ordinary Utah employee gross pay, payroll withholding, Social Security, Medicare, benefits, pay schedules and estimated take-home pay. Articles about employer filing deadlines, worker classification, employment law, household tax planning or cost of living require separate source review before publication because the paycheck model does not establish those answers.
Sources and calculations
Tax-rule claims should link to a current primary source such as IRS Publication 15-T, Utah Publication 14 or the Social Security Administration wage-base publication. The source library lists the references used by the calculator. The methodology explains annualization, deduction treatment, rounding and scope.
Worked examples use the same calculation engine as the interactive tool wherever possible. Each example should state the tax year, salary or hours, filing status, pay frequency, optional deductions and any simplifying assumptions. Data tables and downloadable files must be generated from the same model or explain why they differ.
Review and updates
We check IRS and Social Security releases for each new tax year and monitor Utah Tax Commission guidance for midyear effective-date changes. A page's updated date should change only when its substance has been reviewed or revised. Calculated examples affected by a rule change must be regenerated and checked before the update is published.
The site has automated payroll tests, but automated checks cannot validate every employer payroll method or every individual's tax situation. Content should distinguish paycheck withholding from final tax-return liability and avoid promising an exact deposit.
Corrections
Report a reproducible problem through contact. Include the page URL, tax year, non-sensitive inputs, expected behavior and a relevant public source. Do not send Social Security numbers, bank details, full pay stubs or other confidential identifiers. We compare a reported issue with source publications and calculation tests; material corrections should update the affected page, example and review date.
Independence and limitations
Utah Paycheck Calculator is an independent educational site. We do not represent the IRS, Utah State Tax Commission, Social Security Administration or an employer. The calculator estimates employee-side withholding and supported deductions; it does not prepare a tax return, determine legal employment classification or provide individualized tax, financial or legal advice.
