Overview
- Gross hourly wages equal rate × regular hours plus rate × overtime hours × the multiplier. The default multiplier is 1.5; actual overtime entitlement depends on applicable wage rules.
- For weekly payroll, enter one week of hours; for biweekly payroll, enter both weeks. Changing frequency does not automatically double hours.
- Taxable tips, commissions and bonuses belong to the same paycheck. We estimate aggregate regular-wage withholding; some employers use different supplemental-payment methods.
Example
$25/hour with overtime
At $25/hour, 40 regular hours produce $1,000 and five overtime hours at 1.5× produce $187.50. Weekly gross is $1,187.50 before taxes and deductions.
Assumptions
- 2020-or-later W-4; employee wages, not self-employment.
- Current Utah schedules effective June 1, 2026; annualized allowance method.
- No optional deductions or adjustments unless entered; default FICA is an annual average.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does overtime count toward taxable wages?
Yes. Eligible tax-return deductions may be reflected through an updated W-4, but do not automatically remove overtime from FICA wages.
How do I estimate a biweekly hourly check?
