Multiply an hourly rate by regular hours and pay periods to estimate annual pay. Overtime, bonuses, and deductions can change the actual paycheck total.

Use the hourly calculator to compare the annual view against the take-home result.

The standard 2,080-hour conversion

A full-time schedule of 40 hours per week for 52 weeks contains 2,080 hours. Multiply the hourly wage by 2,080 for a simple gross annual equivalent. At $25 per hour, that equals $52,000 before taxes, unpaid time off, overtime, bonuses, and benefits.

This conversion assumes paid work across all 52 weeks. If the employee has unpaid weeks or a variable schedule, multiply the rate by the realistic number of hours instead.

Convert hourly pay by paycheck

For weekly payroll, enter the hours from one week. For biweekly payroll, enter both weeks. A worker earning $25 per hour for 80 regular hours has $2,000 gross pay on a biweekly check. The calculator then applies federal withholding, Utah withholding, Social Security, Medicare, and entered deductions.

Pay frequency changes the amount and timing of each check. It does not change the annual value of the same hours and rate, apart from payroll rounding.

Add overtime without double counting

Overtime gross pay equals the base rate multiplied by overtime hours and the overtime multiplier. Five overtime hours at $25 and 1.5 times pay add $187.50 to that period. Do not enter those hours again as regular hours.

Actual overtime eligibility can depend on the job and applicable wage rules. Use the multiplier and hours from payroll records or an offer rather than assuming every extra hour receives the same premium.

Compare an hourly offer with a salary offer

Start with guaranteed base compensation. Then compare expected hours, paid time off, overtime, bonuses, health benefits, retirement contributions, and the pay schedule. A higher gross annual equivalent can still produce a different deposit pattern or require more working hours.

Use take-home pay for cash-flow planning, but keep benefits and working time visible in the comparison. Neither an hourly-to-salary conversion nor a paycheck estimate measures the full value of a compensation package.
